DevExpress WinForms Reporting Controls

The DevExpress.Win.Reporting package includes DevExpress reporting controls and supporting APIs for WinForms applications. Use this package to embed a Report Designer or Document Viewer in your application or display the built-in Report Designer and Print Preview forms.

Included Components

  • End-User Report Designer — A full-featured drag-and-drop design surface that allows users to create and modify reports at runtime.
  • Document Viewer (Print Preview) — An interactive print preview control with zoom, search, export, and page navigation capabilities.
  • ReportDesignTool - Opens reports in the built-in standard or ribbon-based End-User Report Designer.
  • ReportPrintTool - Displays reports in the built-in standard or ribbon-based Print Preview.

Invoke the Built-in Report Designer and Print Preview Forms (Reporting Subscription)

Use the following APIs to display the built-in End-User Report Designer or Print Preview forms. These forms are available with the DevExpress Reporting Subscription and require no custom UI implementation.

Open the Built-in Report Designer

using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;

var designTool = new ReportDesignTool(report);

Open the Built-in Print Preview

Display a Report in the Report Designer/Document Viewer (WinForms/DXperience/Universal)

The following example assumes that a Report Designer or Document Viewer control has already been added to a WinForms form.

Display a Report in the Document Viewer

Display a Report in the Report Designer

Whether you own a license or want to start a 30-day evaluation period, register your DevExpress license key. To obtain your key, log in to the DevExpress Download Manager. Use your existing DevExpress.com account or create a new account for free. For additional registration instructions, see License Key for DevExpress Products.

If you purchase a license after evaluating a product, re-register your updated DevExpress license key to remove evaluation version warnings/messages.

With the DevExpress Reporting Subscription, you can only use the ReportPrintTool and ReportDesignTool classes to display the Print Preview and End-User Report Designer in WinForms applications. To customize the DevExpress Reporting component UI in application code or at design time in Visual Studio, you need a subscription that includes DevExpress WinForms UI Controls: WinForms Subscription, DXperience Subscription, or Universal Subscription.
